#Review: Alienated by @Melissa_Landers 4 STARS

Alienated by Melissa Landers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

ALIENATED is a fabulously fun young adult romance about the first intergalactic student exchange program.

Cara is an opinionated, determined woman who isn’t afraid to fight for what she wants. Whether it’s a debate tournament or stealing the title of valedictorian, she always rises to the occasion. So when she’s chosen to host the first L’eihr student ambassador and later travel to planet L’eihr to represent her country (and planet), she decides to ignore her fears and look at it as an opportunity to jumpstart her dream of becoming a journalist.

Aelyx is certain that his Elders’ goal of an alliance with Earth is futile. He sees how humans have treated their planet and how overpopulated they’ve let it become. So he and the other L’eihr ambassadors come up with a plan to exacerbate the humans’ paranoia and end talks of an intergalactic alliance once and for all.

As fear escalates among opponents of the alliance, Cara and Aelyx are forced to rely on each other for support. The more time they spend together, and the more Cara loses for standing by her convictions, the more Cara and Aelyx realize their feelings for each other are not entirely platonic. But by the time Aelyx realizes what his sabotage efforts will cost Earth, it may be too late to reverse.

From the very first page, Melissa Landers captured my attention with her strong and well-defined characters. The characters each have their flaws but they are intentional ones that allowed for character growth as the story progressed. I also really enjoyed the descriptions of planet L’eihr. As Aelyx described his home to Cara, it was easy to visualize. I loved that not only did we find out exactly how L’eihr looked, but we also found out the scientific explanations behind it. It gave credibility to an out-of-this-world story.

ALIENATED has action, suspense, romance, and humor. It’s an adorable romance that is fun to read and easy to experience. You don’t have to be a fan of science fiction to enjoy this young adult romance.
